Some of the questions I get most frequently follow. Please feel free to contact me if you need additional information!
Zumba Fun at the WNBA Chicago Sky game!
What type of shoe should I wear for Zumba?
Wear fitness shoes with plenty of shock absorption. Do not wear shoes with thick treads and lots of traction(e.g., running shoes.) You need a shoe that allows your foot to pivot without putting pressure on your knees or hips. Nike and Ryka both make cross training shoes with pivot points that facilitate turning. Check out the links page on this website and visit their sites. I've also provided links for a couple of online shoe vendors.
I have two left feet...how can I get a good workout from Zumba?
Zumba is not about getting every step perfect. There are no judges on the sidelines waiting to score us. Zumba is about feeling the music and having fun...while getting a great workout. The more energy you put into your Zumba moves, the better your results will be.
What should I wear/bring for Zumba?
Zumba is a cardio workout...plan to sweat! Wear breathable clothes that allow you to move freely. Fabrics that wick moisture away from the body are particularly comfortable for Zumba. It's also a good idea to bring a towel and LOTS OF WATER!
Are there any Zumba DVDs I can purchase for home use?
Yes! Zumba Fitness released a new four-DVD set in March 2011. It is available exclusively through www.zumba.com.
If Zumba is so much fun, how can I be getting a workout?
Zumba participants can burn approximately 400-600 calories per class based on their cardio intensity and fitness level. The Zumba routines feature aerobic interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba is a total body workout with emphasis on the glutes, legs, arms, abdominals, and the most important muscle of the body…THE HEART!
Where do you get those cute Zumba clothes?
